We consume what we eat through representative imagery - eating with our eyes - forgetting the origin of each ingredient in its natural habitat. The lifespan of the edible is far removed from our everyday lives, and suddenly, a rainbow palette is placed on our plate: beauti-fully arranged, ready for the feed, stripped of its context. Appetite becomes a performance, shaped by body politics. By categorizing food according to seasons and nutritional qualities, we build pyramids, invent superfood labels, control what (not) to consume - all part of being a modern human, far from the fields, lost in the worldwide, modern jungle where you become what you eat.
